Is this new material a thermoplastic material? What is the maximum melting point of the material? And how about its corrosion resistance? ( I think by corrosion resistance he means chemical resistance)

这个新材料是属于热塑性的材料吗?材料的熔点,最高能够承受大概多高的温度?还有它的耐腐蚀性大概是怎样的呢?

A1

Yes, this is a thermoplastic material.  The melting point is around 230 degrees C.  It has very good chemical resistance, especially to skin oils, sunscreens and household cleaners that can attack other plastics.

是的,这是一种热塑性材料。 熔点约为230摄氏度,具有很好的耐化学性,特别适用于接触护肤油,防晒霜和家用清洁剂等,而这些产品通常会侵蚀其他塑料

Regarding environmental sustainability, can the material be degraded naturally or does Eastman have any specific recycling mechanism for the new material?

A2.

This is a durable bioplastic which means it is designed to last, not degrade.  The material can be recycled similar to other engineering resins, typically in closed loop systems or as post-industrial.

这是一种耐用的生物塑料,其设计理念是持久而非降解。 该材料可再次循环,类似于其他工程树脂,通常使用在闭环系统或后工业化中。

Q3.

Compared to other materials, what are the advantages of Treva when used in equipment directly contacting human skin? Are there any allergy risks?

A3.

We believe applications that touch the skin are great opportunities for Treva due to the excellent chemical resistance to skin oils, sunscreens and cosmetics ingredients.  The materials are BPA-free and phthalate-free.  There are no known allergy risks.

我们认为Treva 在与皮肤直接接触的应用中潜力巨大,因为它对皮肤油,防晒霜和化妆品成分具有出色的耐化学性。TRēVA家族不含BPA和邻苯二甲酸酯,据我们所知,没有过敏风险。

Q4.

What about the cost of new materials? Could you kindly introduce some its specific applications in packaging industry?

We are targeting the TRēVA materials to be competitive with price points for higher performing fossil-based engineering resins.  There could be specialty packaging applications that would be interested in some of the functionalities of the material such as superior flow and excellent chemical resistance in a bio-based thermoplastic.

I heard that Eastman has spent a lot of money on this new bio-engineering material, purchasing one domain name : Treva.com, is it true? If so, does it mean Eastman company place great expectations on this new material? Could you please talk a bit about the prospects of this new material?

Eastman has purchased the Treva.com domain and it will redirect to the Treva webpage on Eastman’s site:  www.eastman.com.  Eastman is very committed to the new material.  We believe it strikes an excellent balance between sustainability, performance and value.  We are excited about the future potential across many applications.

伊士曼已经购买了Treva.com域名,它将链接回到Eastman网站上(www.eastman.com)的Treva网页。伊士曼对于新材料的开发不遗余力。我们相信它在可持续性,整体性能和给客户提供的价值之间取得了良好的平衡。同时,我们也期待在未来的更多应用中使用这一新材料。
